It is good to hear from you. I would never forget you & Marilyn. I loved working and getting to know the both of you. I certainly understand you being on hold with your building plans. I would suggest holding onto your land for the time being. You got a good deal on the land. The market is really slow here, but it is definitely a buyers market. Not one like Florida/California, but a good area to get some reasonable deals. From your comment about selling your house--I take it the Fla. market is still in the tank?
Thank you for recommending me, but no, I have not heard from CJ. Is she a member of this Log Community? If so, send me her email address and I'll touch base with her. I really appreciate my clients recommending me to others. And this community is a great way to network.
I hope you and Marilyn have a wonderful Thanksgiving and I look forward to talking with you soon.
Thanks,
Robin
How do I find Robin? Perhaps the name of the Real Estate company.
That is a reality check. I think I'll wait till I have the money in hand but to think I'm still going to be here several years is the pits...
Anyway...perhaps it isn't wise to spend the money on a Tampa trip: my for my dog just cost me $535 and my car $180 and then there was this and that too..Between this election and our "crisis" things seem gloomy right now.
But I do enjoy popping in here and chatting
Thanks
CJ
I gather since I'm no where near building it would be a tease to me also. Things are very grim in Florida and my home sign is fading.
I will consider and definetly let you know....thanks
CJ
If you have a date and time for the Log Home expo in Tampa next month I'd appreciate it....I will go.
Retired on a disability. My oldest son and daughter-in-law are in the Charlotte area and I enjoy being near them but I would consider the foothills of North Carolina.
After being in flat long Florida for so long I find that those high, winding roads and I don't agree. I spent many weekends in Vermont in our family home…wonderful, clean fresh air, snowmobiling memories and I paid no attention to the mountain.
Anyway thanks for the list for me to search. Actually this isn’t the first time looking at Log homes …I should have followed my dreams then.
I'm still a little handy and so is my son perhaps I could cut corners and do work myself.
Market is wicked here.
I’ll keep looking and perhaps pop in here to say hi again.
Thanks
CJ
I'm new here and so glad I found this site but I feel the size of my home with land is considerably smaller than most of you.
I too am in Florida being a resident since 1977 and around 1994 or so I moved to North Carolina and spent 5 years there. Two of my kids ended up back in Florida and "made" me move back...and too my horror 2 moved to North Carolina a year ago and I missed selling my house for a good profit by 4 months and now I'm stuck here.
After much thought about leaving my sons again in Florida I decided to sell for whatever it will take to buy land and build a log home...this could be a fiasco but since it’s just me and my dog a small home could be inviting. I just don’t want to wait till this market comes up…….I’ll be toooooo old. Best of both worlds would be great but that is not an option.
Do you know of a site that would list floor plans and prices and perhaps a log home plus land…..that would help.
Thanks,
CJ
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida
The answers to your questions are yes and yes. George did develop more speed with chinking and the end results are beautiful. However, he does not ever want to do it again and says he will deny having any chinking experience if asked :). It is pretty easy work, but very, very monotonous. However, the money saved was significant. I'm sure with your contracting backround, you'd be fine. ~ Anne
